? Desirable supercharged specification
? Present ownership since circa 2005
? British registration document / EU duties paid (EU Verzollt)
This latest model is a marked improvement in all respects over its forbears, reported The Autocar magazine after road-testing the new P-Type (PA) Midget in November 1934. A replacement for the successful J2 Midget, the PA followed the general lines of its predecessor but was equipped with a more robust version of MGs 847cc, four-cylinder, overhead-camshaft engine benefiting from a stronger three-bearing crankshaft and better lubrication. Chassis alterations included a longer wheelbase, strengthened transmission and 12-diameter (up from 8) brakes. Top speed was in the region of 75mph, while for those looking for more speed there was always the option of a supercharger. Built in two- and four-seater variants, the PA in the latter form was the last Midget to offer sports car motoring for the family.
This supercharged PA was purchased at a UK auction circa 2005 having been offered from the Montabaur Collection - one of Europes finest collections of pre- and post-war sporting MGs - where it had resided since 1997. When sold at the aforementioned auction the car was described as having had a comprehensive restoration since joining the Montabaur Collection and was said to be on the button and ready for use or show. Accompanying documentation consists of a copy of the auction catalogue description and a UK V5C Registration Certificate.
